What is scary about the killing blow on Undyne is that it wasn’t meant for her. After all, with his defense lowered, it didn’t require a high attack damage to kill. Perhaps it’s this similarity to Asriel that prompts Chara to attack Papyrus with overkill damage. Unlike the other bosses, Papyrus chooses to show mercy towards a clearly dangerous foe – just like Asriel did. Yet this doesn’t account for the high damage number. Not wanting to fight, his defense is lowered. When Papyrus faces Chara, he actually has no intention to fight or capture them. After all, Toriel never mentions Chara, and she is very quick to call Frisk “my child.” While Flowey is the one who states these words, it’s possible that Chara shares the same feelings. Chara may feel that Toriel replaced them. However, this hatred towards Toriel may not be unfounded. It’s when the player cooperates with Chara in the genocide route that they take control. If it did, the narrator should display the same amount of hostility in neutral routes with high amounts of LOVE. Nothing implies that Toriel was ever a bad guardian for Chara, yet Chara seems to hold hatred towards her. Long ago, Toriel and Asgore took Chara into their home. Here is a breakdown of possible reasons why Chara delivers outrageously deadly blows to each boss. From that point onwards, it is Chara’s intent and feelings that affect the course of battles against the boss of each area. In the genocide route, Chara takes control as early as in the Ruins, specifically after killing 20 monsters.
